Vegan Protein Coffee
Coffee is, without question, one of the most important discoveries in the history of humankind. Not only does coffee taste great, it’s also essential for many of us who struggle to wake up in a morning.
Yes, we know it’s the caffeine in coffee that perks us up, but even so, good quality coffee is surprisingly healthy and is a great source of antioxidants and other nutrients. You know what’s better than coffee? Protein coffee!
Combining all the benefits of muscle-building protein with the energy boosting effects of fresh coffee beans, protein coffee supplements are rapidly becoming a staple in many people’s daily nutrition routines.
As most protein supplements are made from whey protein, which comes from cow’s milk, that does mean that vegans, plant-based dieters, and those unable to consume dairy often miss out. We’ve rectified this issue however, thanks to our latest Vegan Protein Coffee.
Offering all the advantages of a protein powder, with the benefit of being plant-based and vegan friendly, here’s an overview of our Vegan Protein Coffee.
What is Vegan Protein Coffee?
Vegan Protein Coffee is a unique blend of freshly ground coffee powder made from the finest organic 100% Arabica coffee beans, combined with pea protein powder.
Pea protein powder is derived from yellow split peas. Once harvested, the outer shells of the peas are removed before the peas are naturally dried and then processed and ground into a powder. Any impurities such as starches are removed, leaving you with the pea protein. The protein powder is water soluble, which means that the starches and fibers are separated from the protein using a wet filtration method and centrifugation. The protein is then dried where it takes on a fine powder form, ready to be used.
We, however, combined the pea protein with the finest quality ground coffee beans, essentially making a high protein coffee powder rich in protein, amino acids, antioxidants, and other nutrients that promote general health, muscle growth, and athletic performance.
What are the Benefits of Vegan Protein Coffee?
Both coffee beans and protein provide numerous health benefits for the human body. Combining them together, therefore, makes for one of the healthiest supplements on the market today.
There are heaps of health and fitness benefits associated with vegan protein coffee. Let’s take a look at a few of the most important benefits.
Vegan-Friendly
Due to the fact that they’re unable to consume animal-derived ingredients, vegans and plant-based dieters sometimes struggle to consume enough protein.
Protein plays countless roles in everyday human health and function, and most sources of protein are found in foods such as meat, eggs, fish, and dairy. These are obviously off-limits for vegans.
Our vegan protein coffee powder is derived from 100% organic pea protein and organic Arabica coffee beans produced ethically. That means that this powder is completely suitable for vegans and plant-based dieters. It’s a great source of plant-based protein, meaning it provides all the benefits of regular protein, without being an animal derivative.
Helps Promote Muscle Growth
Whether you’re looking to seriously bulk up and transform your body, tone up a little, or simply increase your lean mass slightly, you need protein to do so.
Protein helps to facilitate protein synthesis and the production of new muscle proteins following a tough workout. Not only that, but it also helps to speed up muscle recovery after you exercise.
Rich in Amino Acids
Pea protein powder is a great source of amino acids. Amino acids are the building blocks of protein, and play a number of different roles in everyday health and well-being.
Pea protein is technically a complete protein, as it contains all nine essential amino acids. Essential amino acids are ones which the body needs for various functions, but can’t produce naturally, meaning they must come from dietary sources.
Our Vegan Protein Coffee is a great source of amino acids, making it very healthy indeed.
Great for Mental Alertness
If you find yourself struggling to feel more awake and alert, caffeine can be very useful.
Caffeine is a stimulant which provides a temporary increase in both physical and mental energy and alertness. It can energize you, help you to focus, help you to concentrate, and help you to think clearer. This is why people have it when they’re tired, or before they exercise.
Our Vegan Protein Coffee is a great source of caffeine, thanks to the coffee beans used to produce the powder. It’s therefore ideal for those trying to feel more awake and energized, or those looking for more energy before they work out.
Other benefits include:
- Increased muscle growth
- Improved rates of post-workout recovery
- Temporarily increases energy levels
- Improved mental focus and clarity
- Rich in amino acids
- Rich in antioxidants
- May help boost immunity
- Convenient and easy to use
- Promotes cellular health and function
How Many Grams of Protein are in our Vegan Protein Coffee?
In order for you to get the most from any protein consumption, it’s important to ensure that you consume enough protein on a daily basis. Experts recommend around 0.6-1 g of protein per pound of bodyweight, depending on your goals of course.
Our vegan protein coffee powder provides 19 g of protein per serving. Compared to the 20g from our Protein Coffee, that’s very impressive and will play a big part in helping you to hit your daily macros for protein.
Whether you’re trying to build muscle, get stronger, or just add a little lean muscle mass, getting plenty of protein each day is vital. At 19 g per serving, our Vegan Protein Coffee is extremely useful and beneficial.
How Much Caffeine is in Vegan Protein Coffee Powder?
One of the main reasons why people find coffee so appealing is its caffeine content. The stimulating effects of caffeine can help us to feel better, it wakes us up, it gives us energy, and it can help us focus.
With that said, caffeine is a stimulant and can therefore be dangerous. Not everybody can, and should, consume caffeine, and even those that can, should limit the amount they consume. Because of this, it’s important to know just how much caffeine is found in protein coffee powder.
A serving of our Vegan Protein Coffee contains 168 mg of caffeine. As an example, 8 ounces or one cup of coffee contains roughly 60 mg to 100 mg.
How Do You Use Vegan Protein Coffee Powder?
You use protein coffee powder as you would a regular protein shake, or iced coffee.
One of our favorite ways to use vegan protein coffee powder is to take a blender, add some ice, top up with a splash of water and almond milk, and add a serving of Vegan Protein Coffee before blending.
The end result is a delicious vegan-friendly, high protein iced coffee that tastes amazing and provides all manner of different nutrients, health benefits, and athletic performance-boosting benefits too.
When Should You Use Vegan Protein Coffee?
Protein is good for you at any time of the day, though some experts believe that protein immediately following a workout is more beneficial as that is when protein and glycogen stores have been used up and will need replenishing.
However, as this is a coffee-based protein supplement, it’s naturally high in caffeine. Caffeine can provide energy and is therefore ideal when consumed just before a workout. Caffeine before a workout will help increase your energy levels and help improve mental focus and stamina at the same time. You can also use it after a workout or first thing in the morning during breakfast for that quick protein and caffeine boost.
Caffeine can lead to difficulty relaxing and getting to sleep, and can even cause insomnia through prolonged use. Because of this, it’s recommended that you do not consume this supplement close to when you plan on going to bed. We recommend you consume it at the most, 5 hours before you go to sleep. The earlier on in the day you do drink it, the more time you give the caffeine to leave your system.
Who is Vegan Protein Coffee For?
Of course, as this is a vegan protein coffee powder, it’s ideal for vegans and plant-based dieters looking to increase their protein intake.
It isn’t just vegans and people that adhere to plant-based diets that can benefit from this supplement, however. People who cannot consume lactose, and can therefore not consume whey protein powder can also benefit.
In truth, unless you have a caffeine sensitivity or cannot consume any of the ingredients found in this supplement for whatever reason, our organic pea protein plus coffee supplement is perfect for anybody looking to improve their physical and emotional health and wellbeing.
Are There Other Protein Coffee Options?
Yes. If pea protein coffee isn’t the right product for you, or even if you’re just looking to try a different protein coffee, you do have other options.
Our Protein Coffee made with grass-fed whey protein powder for example, is a great alternative. It provides slightly more protein per serving, as well as all of the benefits of fresh coffee beans that you might expect to enjoy.
Are There Any Protein Coffee Side Effects?
As long as it is used correctly and as instructed, vegan protein coffee powder is safe. There are however, a few possible side effects to be wary of, especially if you have a caffeine sensitivity or any underlying health issues.
Possible side effects include:
- Headache
- Stomach cramps
- Diarrhea
- Constipation
- Bloating
- Digestive issues
- Cardiovascular issues
- Sweating
- Difficulty sleeping
- Anxiety
If you’re unsure whether protein coffee is right for you, consult a healthcare professional for advice.
Who Should Not Use Protein Coffee?
Though this supplement is ideal for virtually everybody, there are a few people that should not use protein coffee.
Pregnant and breastfeeding women for example, should speak to their doctor or consult a medical expert before using a protein coffee product.
People with caffeine sensitivity, or with cardiovascular issues such as high blood pressure or a history of heart problems should also ideally avoid this product due to its naturally high caffeine content.

A little more caffeine than I’d like but overall happy with the product.
My most favorite flavor..
This is my all time favorite as the coffee blend is simply amazing. I give it a twist by making a shake with almonds, walnut, apple, figs, cocoa and soy milk which has become my go to breakfast replacement to wake me and make me run all day.
I was looking forward to this but unfortunately I cannot stand the taste. I think it is the pea protein that I don’t like. I tried masking it with additional coffee but I still didn’t like the taste of it.
“My mission was to find a protein powder in a pouch (for environmental reasons),that was healthy, non GMO or organic. Followed up with a canadian product that I could afford, accessable and tastes great. You guys ticked off all the boxes. I’m thanking you.I hope Plain Nutrition will be around for a long time.
IronVegan pouches was my previous choice(didn’t mix well plus xanthan).Ian.wpg.” -Ian M. (originally left on Plain Nutrition Store Reviews)
